Ales For Whales is a local fundraiser hosted by Humble Sea Brewing Co. & the California Ocean Alliance with the singular mission to throw an awesome party and raise $5k in scholarships for high school students interested in pursuing careers in marine biology and ocean conservation.

  • FREE STARFISH PETTING ZOO (that's right, you get to pet a starfish at a brewery)

  • 5-minute lightning talks by "Santa Cruz Change Makers"Hilary Bryant (former mayor), David Terrazas (current mayor), Fred Keeley (California State Assembly Representative), and COA scientists

  • Live and Silent Auction: private meet and greet with the Long's Marine Lab seals and sea lions, behind the scenes tour of the Oakland Zoo to hang out with elephants, private cocktail making class at Trick Dog SF (wold's best-mixed drinks), private yoga classes from Core Power Yoga, ocean-themed artwork and prints, cool whale-themed swag, and more to come.

DONATION DETAILS

All proceeds generated by Ales For Whales will go directly towards scholarships for local low-income high school students interested in pursuing careers in marine biology and ocean conservation through the California Ocean Alliance.

  • COST: $12 online // $15 at the gate (gets you entry to festival + 1 beer).
  • $5 if between the ages of 13 and 21
  • Below age 13 are free
  • LOCATION: Humble Sea Brewing Co. "Secret Garden"

The California Ocean Alliance is a new non-profit whose mission is to protect whales in Monterey Bay and ensure that these animals thrive into the next century. We are dedicated to researching with whales locally to help promote their continued conservation, while also inspiring young scientist by providing unique research and educational experiences to local students.
